About Broadstairs Golf Society

We're a bunch of Golfers, of all ability levels, from all walks of life, who like getting together to play a variety of courses around Kent and occasionally beyond.

Formed around 30 years ago, initially as the Prince Albert PH Golf Society, Broadstairs Golf Society has prided itself on being a welcoming place for all golfers.

We play monthly, usually midweek on a Wednesday or Thursday, throughout the year, whatever the weather. We start our day with a "Hearty Golfer's Breakfast" and then play 18 holes 'Stableford', followed by some refreshments and prize-giving.

As well as monthly prizes we play for the coveted Broadstairs Golf Society 'Player of the Year' trophy (your best 6 scores through the year count towards this).

This year we have introduced the 'King Pin' Trophy for the golfer who wins the most 'nearest the pin' competitions throughout the season.

BGS Rules

We play "see the ball into the hole" / "putt-out" / no gimmies.
Lost Ball / Out-of-bounds - following maximum 3 min search – you can drop your ball adjacent to the ball entry point of where it was lost / out-of-bounds (two club lengths in from the edge of the fairway), under a 2-stroke penalty (unless a provisional has already been played).
Maximum handicap for 2022 is 28 for men, 36 for ladies. The only tweaks we are making this year is a -1 for the winner, applied the next time they play.
We are a social society so the groups will be drawn on the day, avoiding pre-planned 'clique' four-balls...

New members are always welcome to join us;
No handicap required; (We use the WHS with some tweaks, for those with Handicaps).
Only £10 to join (but guests are very welcome too... for a fiver more each month);
Monthly fees vary depending upon where we are playing;
1st, 2nd, & 3rd and Nearest the Pin prizes each month (we sometimes do the Longest Drive as well...)
