Report

After a two week delay due to a rogue yellow snow warning (please don't eat it!!), we arrived at Stonelees which was hidden in a cloud and lots of muddy puddles... However, we were met by a smiley chef & were all well fed by Ant, 15 great breakfasts & Mark's plate of tomatoes following a public altercation about the lack of scrambled eggs at Stonelees!  All agreed that it was by far the best breakfast of the year so far ????.

Rhod shared that Carl was rumoured to have fled following further tweaks to the society's Handicap system, but then reassured everyone that we remain the friendliest Golf Society and demonstrated this by giving Big Al a generous few extra shots to match the extra shots his Stonelees mates have enjoyed throughout the past year.  Fortunately, the rain had disappeared by the time Rhod had shared way too many stats, & explained today's team comp as well as the return of the 'Best Visitor' comp (2 guests today: hope you had a good time Steve & Paul (Smoggie).

Considering that only 8 out of 40 golfers had got 30+ points over our past three visits we weren't expecting many decent scores today. However, conditions were decent & with no frost on the front 9 it paved the way for 8 out of today's 16 golfers reaching the magic 30pts... Today's 'Nearest the Pin' winners were: John Knight (4th), Ady Calland (8th), Steve Bailey (13th) & Alan Garrett (17th). All these (apart from Ady!) joined the 2's club winning the princely sum of £3 off their next game along with Paul Bunyan & Terry.

Countback was needed for today's Most Golf prize, but Ed couldn't even "win" that, so John Knight ended with the new Wooden Spoon 'prize'... 3rd place went to Tudor who just pipped Anthony & Gary.  2nd place on 36pts was Ady (Don't worry, that H.Cap will be coming down soon), but 1st place went to Alan on 38pts, who immediately gives back the generous extra shots that we gave him this morning (see what we mean about being the friendliest society!).  There was also impressive scoring from Steve Bailey who came in with 38pts, but there was no need for count-back as Steve was a "visitor", however, look out for him next time as he's already paid his '£15 membership fee' (Gentle reminder that it's time for everyone to pay their annual membership fee...).

The Team prize (£4 each) was won by the motley crew of Tudor, Pete, Ed & Steve...

Next month we're at North Foreland on Wednesday 12th February, let's hope they do some Scrambled Eggs... Look out for the Whatsapp message for when to book in... & there are plans afoot for a curry night as well.
