BGS Golf Day at Walmer & Kingsdown…
It was with a sense fear & foreboding that 19 of us arrived at the ‘Course on the Cliffs’, one of the guests having dipped out due to a night on the Dunny… The rain was relentless, it was cold & a fair breeze too… It wasn’t just Rhod on his knees praying for an upturn in the weather…
Following a great breakfast… we had a new scenario for BGS, who are usually a hardy bunch… it turns out that the rain was proving too much for a few, as we had four of our crew sprinting for their cars & hot-tailing it out of Kingsdown hoping that the sun would be shining elsewhere…
However, little did they know that following a bit of Mathematical gymnastics, we’d rearranged the groups into five 3balls to ensure a speedy round, & within a couple of holes the sun was out & Gary was comparing it to a Holiday in Barbados… Although this didn’t help the last three groups catch the late afternoon squall, with Thunder, lightning, huge gusts & some Thunder snow on the last two holes… whilst the first couple of groups chuckled to themselves from inside the clubhouse…
Winners: 1st was Peter K on countback from Carl both with a magnadoodle 38pts… Gary (Chopper) couldn’t believe that he’d only come third with a great 36pts, which also included a magnificent nearest-the-pin on the 17th. Arthur, leader in the King of the Pins comp, ensured the Fairhalls went home with a bag full of prizes with a NP on the tricky 14th. It was great to welcome back Barney (Peter Bartlett) & it wasn’t a surprise to see him get NP on the 4th; & no-one begrudged Rhod getting NP on the 11th.
Most golf was a fight between Steve Evans & Arthur…
See you next month at Littlestone Warren.
