It stayed dry... just about! What a bonus! A great breakfast... decent company... awful jokes, typically about West Ham: Was it Graham Putter, the great golfer, or Graham Potter, the snooker player? Anyway, after the usual reminder that we don't do gimmes, we were off...
Paul McGuirk made sure we kept a decent pace as he had another date with mates straight afterwards, he was last seen running down the M2 still looking for a shower... the pace didn't affect the other two in the 1st group as they topped the leaderboard. Ady came 1st with 39pts for his first win since July 2024, followed by Mick Beale with 37pts, to match his highest ever placing - although with this form it won't be long until Mick gets his maiden win.
In the next group, Bouncy Castle Dave was hoping to end his drought of a Top 3 finish & with 35pts you can see why... all was going well until Group 3 came in with Ricky beating him to 3rd place on countback... don't worry Dave, you'll bounce back soon...
Group 4 thought they were in with a shout of winning the Team comp until they found a flaw in the scoring system which meant that the 3-balls had an advantage... which Team 1 took advantage of earning them £6 each...
The wait for the final group passed quickly as we enjoyed drinks under the canopy with the unseasonal fires lit... smiles grew as Group 5s scores showed us that this month's Visitor winner Ray Gardiner also "won" the 'most-golf' prize & yes, Ray, you are welcome to return... & there's a prize waiting for you...
Nearest the Pins went to: Steve Faulkner (3rd); Alan Garrett (7th); & Mick Beale landed a double (9th & 12th) - great work...
