BGS May Outing at Sene Valley... Match Report:

What a day! Arriving in the rain we all were checking we’d put in our waterproofs & umbrellas… Following a splendid breakfast most were hoping we could delay our Tee time as Jon had assured us that the rain would blow through quickly… eventually, having rounded up the final few golfers who were hiding in the changing rooms & directed Dave to the kitchen to get his special personalised Breakfast bap, we were off… & by the time the first group were teeing off on the 2nd hole the rain had gone and who would’ve imagined the glorious sunshine, blue skies & stunning views that Sene Valley offers.

The course was in splendid condition, those playing there for the 1st time were already putting it high up on their must play again list, & Bob was building a good score again.  Amazingly, and possibly for the 1st time in the history of Broadstairs’ Golf Society the four Nearest the Pin awards were won by the same four-ball, one each… (& before you ask, no they weren’t the final four-ball)… Jamie on the 16th, Bob on the 11th, Jon on the 6th & myself, Rhod, on the 2nd.

Jon came in 3rd place with an impressive 36 points, considering we’d cut him extra for winning last month. In 2nd place was Nigel, one of our two guests today from the St Stephen’s Golf Society in Canterbury – hopefully both Nigel & Pat felt welcomed! (they’ve both already signed up for next month’s game at Broome Park so that’s a good sign). In 1st place, & continuing his impressive form this season, was Bob with 38pts. Well played Bob & we’re already looking forward to cutting you next month.

It's been a great day – we’ve been missing some of you who haven’t been as regular recently, hopefully we’ll see you next month.
